Natural Cycle IVF

 

While conventional or Mini-Stimulation IVF are often a necessary route to achieve pregnancy, many patients are excellent candidates for a simpler process called “Natural Cycle IVF” which does not use medications to hyperstimulate the ovaries to produce multiple follicles.

 

With natural cycle IVF, your body will naturally choose the healthiest egg. During the course of your cycle, we will monitor the growth of the dominant follicle with ultrasounds and blood work. Then, around the 10th day of your cycle, we will retrieve the egg in a simple in-office procedure and fertilize it in the same way as conventional IVF.

 

If an embryo is produced, we will transfer it to the uterus using traditional IVF methods.

 

There are many advantages to doing a natural cycle IVF over traditional IVF, including:

Minimal Stimulation IVF

​Involves the use of fewer medications, and lower doses of medication that regular InVitro Fertilization. Patients using regular IVF protocols are typically required to be monitored with blood-hormone tests and vaginal sonograms every 24 to 72 hours. These tests allow the IVF team to modify the patient's medication dosing and time when the egg retrieval should be performed. With minimal stimulation IVF, fewer monitoring visits are required, thus reducing patients' inconvenience and stress. In addition, patients are required to inject themselves less frequently than with regular IVF, limiting the level of discomfort common with fertility medications.

​Regular IVF​

​In regular IVF, more dosages of medications are used to yield the greatest amount of eggs. This requires more monitoring to determine that proper dosage of medications. This procedure tries to produce the greatest amount of eggs. Our regular IVF package also includes many features that other IVF clinics will charge extra for. Not at FCA.
