Surrogacy is illegal in six states, including Arizona, but there is an increasingly popular alternative to fulfilling the dream of parenthood for those women who, for various medical or personal reasons, cannot or choose not to carry their own pregnancy. This alternative allows a woman to have her own genetic children through the help of a gestational carrier, wherein, a couple’s IVF embryo is implanted into a surrogate mother (a woman who carries a pregnancy for the genetic parents). There are many legal, financial and emotional considerations associated with gestational surrogacy. BostonIVF - The Arizna Center understands these unique concerns and offers all-inclusive, experienced and compassionate care to guide you through every step of the way.

We have a legal package readily available that will ensure a smooth and efficient process. With our expertise, international patients can return home with their baby as quickly as two weeks after delivery. We are wholeheartedly committed to simplifying your path to parenthood.

Common Questions about Gestational Surrogacy

What is the difference between traditional and gestational surrogacy?

With traditional surrogacy, artificial insemination is used to unite the surrogate’s eggs with the intended father’s sperm. Therefore, a genetic link is established between the surrogate mother and the unborn child. Gestational surrogacy relies on in vitro fertilization (IVF) to impregnate the surrogate with an embryo that is formed from the intended mother‘s egg and father’s sperm and has no biological link to the surrogate.

How does gestational surrogacy work?

Using either a woman’s own or donated eggs, in vitro fertilization (IVF) is performed to fertilize the eggs with sperm from the partner or a donated source. The embryo is then transferred to the uterus of the gestational carrier (surrogate) to carry the pregnancy to term. Once the baby is delivered, there are no other biological, financial or legal ties to the surrogate.

How do I find the right gestational carrier?

BostonIVF - The Arizona Center offers a source of local gestational surrogates who are healthy, responsible and professional surrogate carriers for your baby, and who each undergo extensive physical and psychological testing to ensure eligibility. You are also welcome to provide your own carrier if you so choose.
